Dark Waters

Over the chaos your Spirit hovered
A formless and void nothing your presence covered
You called light out of darkness Tamed the monstrous deep
You began the promise you promised to keep

From what sleeping rocks dream of sprang reality
And tohu va vohu begat boundless beauty
You spoke into chaos- lo, your will was done
Creation was sourced in Father Spirit and Son

Chorus
You still speak to dark waters, change chaos to rhyme
You speak your Good Word in and out all of time
In every  conflict the victory's won
You speak to dark waters, lo, your will is done...

The One Eternal Word was spoken in grace
To every danger and wildness and waste
For every life that seems formless and void
Now even death by that Word is destroyed

To whatever darkness and chaos you face
The Lord will speak power and mercy and grace
He'll  speak into the darkness and light issues forth
And faith comes by hearing and knowing its worth

Chorus
You still speak to dark waters, change chaos to rhyme
You speak your Good Word in and out all of time
In every  conflict the victory's won
You speak to dark waters, lo, your will is done...

Grace is Sufficient

Lord you make a way  for us
And guide us with your light
through the shadows in the valley
And on through the darkest night

Lord we want to bless your name
Your mercies overflow
Abounding love shall be our guide
And all we need to know.

Your grace is sufficient
More than sufficient
It burst the boundaries we set
It floods our soul with deep content
Your grace is sufficient
More than sufficient
Your grace is sufficient for me.

All that is in me, all that I am
There is nothing I would withhold
Power is perfected in my weakness
Your presence Lord will make me bold

Your grace is sufficient
More than sufficient
It burst the boundaries we set
It floods our soul with deep content
Your grace is sufficient
More than sufficient
Your grace is sufficient for me.

I want to live with grace
I want to die with grace
Like a chariot of fire
I want to fly to your embrace

Your grace is sufficient
More than sufficient
It burst the boundaries we set
It floods our soul with deep content
Your grace is sufficient
More than sufficient
Your grace is sufficient for me.

Turn My Prayer into a Song

Every prayer is a psalm unto the Lord
He hears each petition that's outpoured
When to the Lord we turn
He hears the hearts that yearn
In prayer His good pleasure we afford

For when I learn to sing my prayer
A new song of praise my lips shall bear
As I learn to raise
This sacrifice of praise
It becomes a fragrance beyond compare.

Chorus
Lord turn my prayer into a song
That I might sing it all day long
And your perfect peace
Will never cease
To make this frail child strong.

As prayer turns to praise his presence God imparts
This peaceable fruit becomes a work of His art
The Lord is glorified
As His name is lifted High
And in turn The Lord lifts up our hearts.

Bridge
His presence provides a healing balm
When our prayer becomes a psalm
Our minds  and spirits  Christ will calm
I will pray with my spirit, I will pray with my mind
I will sing  with my spirit, I will sing with my mind

Chorus
Lord turn my prayer into a song
That I might sing it all day long
And your perfect peace
Will never cease
To make this frail child strong.

Taste and See

Taste and see -Taste and see the Lord, the Lord He is good...
Let your heart come and savor righteousness
Taste and see-Tune your heart and mind till you have understood
Partake of the holy flavor of blessedness

Come enjoy the pleasures this world can't replace
Come develop a palate for mercy and grace
Don't be satisfied with morsels,  come to His feast
Savor the flavor of glory and see it released.

Taste and see-For of the shadows you have had a foretaste
For echoes of glory are everywhere
Taste and see-Now savor the substance on which they are based
For in Christ is every answer to your prayers

You have basked in His warm rays, now look at the Son
Let your heart heed the music and be overcome
Oh don't let your deepest hunger be denied.
Go on to the banquet and be satisfied

Taste and see...-Focus your eyes and His splendor you'll face
I pray you'll pursue with all your might
Taste and see-At the cross is displayed mercy truth and great grace
Now taste of pure glory and savor the sight.

Lovingkindness and goodness are found in His name
Your desires are but embers, be fanned to a flame
When glory's revealed its fire  will refine
Your heart and your soul and your mind.

Taste and see-The good, the beautiful and the true
Take pleasure in His presence for eternity
Live and Be-find their source in Him who makes all things new
This gift is yours if you will taste and see.

Feel your soul strangely warmed  by this consuming fire
The enticement of glory girds every desire.
Oh don't let your deepest hunger be denied.
Go on to the banquet and be satisfied!

There's a Light

There's a light shining in the darkness so men might have sight
In our hearts - it overcomes the darkest night
There's a light-driving out the darkness from eternity
May it shine-So that everyone might see.

There's a hope in a word that is true
In this hope, we can all be made new
For it proves itself faithful throughout all of time
We believe in this light, light so sublime

In this light-The knowledge of great glory is now revealed
Op'n our eyes  to see what was once concealed
There is love By the Spirit shed abroad in our hearts
And a hope that springs eternal it imparts.

There is hope in this light that is true
There is joy in a dawn ever new
There is peace and the promise of permanent release
There is love for the very least of these

There is light  Shining from the glory of His face
So we walk  In the marvelous light of this grace
And this light Illumines  souls who his name confess
We are lights of the world destined to bless

Bridge: Now as our hearts are brightened
A living love is born
Like the temple veil, our hearts by glory are torn
We reflect it now-to bring a brand new morn

There is light lighting up  lives of those who believe
And this light's- never conquered, we perceive
If we walk in the light now as He is in the light…
His blood cleanses from all sin and sets us right

There is hope in this light that is true
There is joy in a dawn ever new
There is peace and the promise of permanent release
There is love for the very least of these

Word of Life

Your Word is light and hope to us
Your promise and commands
Make our hearts to burn in us
Help us understand!

Light our paths with radiance
Reveal to us the way
For with this gift our heart repents
Now teach us how to pray

Oh Lord where else can we go?
You are the Living Word
You are the Light we need to know
The Word of Life that must be heard

Your word is like a two edged sword
Striking to our core
Dividing truth from error
It stands forevermore.

Your word is truth unvarnished
Good news for us to hear
It never returns void
To those with a list'ning ear.

Oh Lord where else can we go?
You are the Living Word
You are the Light we need to know
The Word of Life that must be heard

Touch Our Hearts Oh God!

There is a time, I know not when, A place, I know not where,
Which marks the destiny of men To heaven or despair.
There is a line by us not seen Which crosses every path,
The hidden boundary between God’s patience and His wrath.

How long may men go on in sin? How long will God forbear?
Where does hope end, and where begin The confines of despair?
One answer from those skies is sent, “You who from God depart,
Now hear the Good News and repent, and harden not your heart.”

Oh trust  in a dear Savior whose work made wrath relent
Receive the gift of grace fall on your knees and now repent.
Confess your sin to Jesus  for He is faithful He is true
He'll cleanse all your unrighteousness, forgive and  make you new.

Touch our hearts, Oh God- Your touch is what we need
For sin sick souls require-from sin to be freed.
Come now still and  small-or touch us with your fire
When we receive your touch-You are our heart's desire.
Touch us anew with glory for this glory we pray
That You would touch us all and touch us all the way

When on that hardened heart God knocks, open the door to find
An exit there from darkness  and new sight for the blind
Oh, bask in blessed assurance   and see the old man changed
From lawless into flawless,  then eternal life is gained!

More of Christ

Help me for I am fallen and I cannot get up
The dust that I am made of is calling unto dust

Help me for I am broken and But all I see is pain
Blinded by lesser graces the Grace of God I fain
I sang a Christian song I prayed a Christian prayer
Heard countless Christian sermons

In a building burning with despair
Is any lostness worse than remaining lost

while believing that you’re found?
Is there a greater obscene cost than being hell bound

Strip away distractions
Take away dissatisfactions
I fill my life with, to my loss
I cannot discern the cost
Now let it all be sacrificed,
if it will get me more of Christ.

Now let it all be sacrificed,
if it will get me more of Christ.

Drinking sand in a desert While thinking it was wine
To play the saint to play the game, faining pearls just like the swine

I sat in my finest church clothes Running straight to hell
Lost in a dire delusion Sinking at perditions well

Feeding fatal dreams while hiding my contempt
Feeding my illusions Failing at a fool's attempt
Hearing is not sufficient I must heed what's true and plain
A faith that won't obey the Word Is useless void and vain

Strip away distractions
Take away the actions
I fill my life with, to my loss
I cannot discern the cost
Now let it all be sacrificed,
if it will get me more of Christ.

Now let it all be sacrificed,
if it will get me more of Christ.

He Who Made the Pleiades and Orion

He who made the Pleiades and Orion,
and darkens day to night, and it is done
and turns deep darkness into the dawn
who calls the waters of the sea His pawn
and pours them out on the surface of the earth,

the Lord is his name- the name of matchless worth!
We name the sovereign name that we exalt and we adore
The name above all names-the Name of Christ our Lord
We lift your Name on High as we declare your fame
So if we live or if we die we hallow your great name
He who made the seashores and the dry land
And knows the number of the grains of sand
He who made the Scylla and Charibdis
He made the tender mother's kiss

He wove the wondrous warp and woof of woe
And made the blind and lame and deaf also.
We name the sovereign name that we exalt and we adore
The name above all names-the Name of Christ our Lord
We lift your Name on High as we declare your fame
So if we live or if we die we hallow your great name

That Long Embrace

Absence makes the heart grow fonder and in some ways my love has gone away
Gone to attend to my well being, gone to prepare for that great day
But He left behind his sweet promise and his presence right here in my heart
For nothing separates us til that day when we'll no longer be apart

No time, no space can take away his long embrace
Here I'll abide until he come back to take me to his side
With the arms of His Spirit around me I know there is nothing I can't face
In him to live and move to have my being held in his embrace

When he returns, he'll bring an entourage to see us wed
When he returns we'll sit down at a feast and be forever fed.
When he returns, my every hope and dream will be satisfied
When He takes us to his side as his perfect Holy bride.

His presence makes my heart grow fonder -as He holds me I'm set free
Don't have to wait for Over Yonder  he's living here in me!
I may not understand it, but I'll pursue the one who's mine
For since he has sought and found me I am lost in joy divine!

I had several "lost" songs surface in the last few days... the preceding ones are from 1995-1998...

Ancient of Days

You sit upon your throne judging the nations
All the empires of the world face grace or damnation
You will discern and separate between evil and good
And between the sheep and the goats as you promised you would

Some shall  fall under his wrath and condemnation
And those for whom   the lamb drank the cup of separation.

Ancient of days, all of our praise
is directed unto you for all of your ways
All of our knees shall bow by resignation or by choice
We shall lift up your name and shout with one voice-
All blessing and honor and glory and power
Be unto the great I AM
Praise and wisdom and strength
Be unto the lamb!

You told us to do justice and so before a judge that’s just
We shall account for every thing in which we’ve placed our trust.
At the end of history at the time that you’ve appointed
You’ll send your angel to the lamb- the one that you’ve anointed

Some shall  fall under his wrath and condemnation
And those for whom  the lamb drank the cup of separation.

Boldly Be

All of our help, all of our hurt
All of our hope and all of our heart
All of our depths and all of our heights
Are found Him who delights in our delights

In him we live and move and breathe
From him our being we receive
And this is what he asks of me
To abide in Him and boldly be...

In him we live and move and breathe
From him our being we receive
And this is what he asks of me
To abide in Him and boldly be...

In him we live and move and breathe
From him our being we receive
And this is what he asks of me
To abide in Him and boldly be...

Go Out

Go out without answers, go out without knowing
Without expectation as to where you are going
Leave destinations in the hands Of the One who makes the way
His path, a road of attitudes where we won't be led astray.

In perpetual wonder each morning you wake
Amazed at the ways He will lead for His sake
Trusting entirely in what way He will make- for you...

A continual attitude of going out
A dependence and trust that demolishes doubt
God does not tell you what He will do
He wants to reveal to you that He is true.

In perpetual wonder each morning you wake
Amazed at the ways He will lead for His sake
Trusting entirely in what way He will make- for you...

Ark for Our Soul

Warm our hearts in your Word
It is our beacon and landmark
Be the roof over our heads
And deliver us by the True Ark.
Like Moses hid in the bullrushes
And was carried straight into your will
As your covenant was carried to battle
You go before us even still.

As Noah obeyed and was saved
Safe within acacia wood walls
Call us from a world that rages
Shelter us from stormy squalls
Waves of wrath won't overtake us
Through endless ages we sail
On suffering’s journey to glory
The Ark for our soul will prevail

Bridge:
Save us from this world of iniquity
While quenching the world's lust for blood
You are the vessel in which we are spared
You carry us through the flood

One ark held the manna and tablets
And kept for a time Aaron's rod
The mercy seat over the ark of our soul
Still takes us to stand before God
Vouchsafe our prayers to the Father
As on this great voyage we embark
To travelers on a storm-tossed sea
For You are the ultimate ark.

At the Foot of the Cross

Bring your sorrows and sins to the foot of the cross
This is where life begins to make sense of the loss
This is where the debt is paid  and this is what it cost
At the foot of the cross lies mercy's seat
This is where the broken life is made complete

Where the curse is reversed
Tho you bring Him your worst
at the foot of the cross we are blessed
For the forsaken son of dust
Was made sin for each of us
So we could become His righteousness

For the ground there is level and we all are the same
Sinners saved by the power of the Blood and by His name
For the great exchange now changes every rule of the game
And gain replaces our loss
We are saved at the foot of the cross.

At the cross of Cal'v'ry  is the crossroads of all time
Where judgment was poured our for all the sins of all mankind
And it is all sufficient  to atone for yours and mine
For a substitute paid for every bit of what it cost
There's forgiveness at the foot of the cross.

Help us follow your command
To go and teach and bring your vision
Of salvation to every land.

Down Deep

Place your word down deep in my heart, in my heart,
Place your word down deep in my heart
It will change me within- In that innermost place
It will change me without As it works out your great grace

May my heart be conformed to your word, to your word,
May my heart be conformed to your Word
For your word is the power of salvation
May my obedience bear the fruit of true adoration

Place your Word down deep
Down deep in my heart
For it is down deep where my treasure I keep
May it flood my innermost part
Place your Word down deep
Down deep in my heart!

Write your word on each page of my heart, of my heart
Write your word on each page of my heart
Where there was stone, make it flesh
It will transform my life As it flows through me ever fresh

Place your Word down deep
Down deep in my heart
For it is down deep where my treasure I keep
May it flood my innermost part
Place your Word down deep
Down deep in my heart

At the End of the Day

We walk in a world that affords us doubt
And we may never figure it out
So though we may falter and our feet may stray
We belong to our Lord at the end of the day.

In the midst of the day our vision’s blurred
Our hearts don’t heed what we have heard
Our finite  thoughts can’t understand
The future and hopes that you have planned

But a day will come when we shall see
With steadfast assurance and clarity
That all you promised will come true
If at the end of the day we trust in you.

At the end of the day you are a mystery
In spite of all that you’ve revealed we can’t see
The lengths and heights
And the deepest delights
Of what it means to love eternally.

For all  our hopes and our intents
Fall short of giving evidence
Of that greater reality
At the end of this day we still can’t see

But  the grace to come is as sure as the past
It rolls like a wave  while it holds us fast
A hope and a promise of a living way
It shall come to pass at the end of the day.

My Father

I have a loving Father
Who provides for me a home
And wraps His arms around me
So I’ll never be alone

My Father  ever loves me
His child I shall remain.
What kind of love is this love
That gives to me His name?

My Father is  my Shepherd
He gives me all I need
And into paths of righteousness
I’ll follow where He leads

My Father is my Sovereign
My King who shall ordain
To give to me His Kingdom
Where with Him I shall reign

My Father is my Shepherd
My Father is my King
My Father is my God alone
So of Him I shall sing

My God and loving Father
Delights to give us grace
I will not fear the future
But will bask in His embrace.

My Father is my Shepherd
My Father is my King
My Father is my God alone
So of Him I shall sing

Jesus Unleashed!

The infinite universe is in His word
And eternal life in His breath
The grave could not and did not hold Him
He is victor o'er the power of death!
Now the power and the motive will more than suffice

For all this is within me Since I am in Christ!
He will bring His Highest and Best
to the moments we give up and rest
I can unleash Jesus on my world today
When I lay down my rights and submit to His way!

Living within me with all of His power
He walks in my body and thinks hour by hour

Loving with my heart and speaking with my lips
Christ can touch others with my fingertips!
The power and presence of the eternal King
To the least of these brothers I can now bring
When I give up that barrier that He broke apart
Jesus is unleashed from my hardened heart!
For then His power is flowing through me
I can change course and find the victory!

Forever Satisfied

Oh bread of life I come to you in hunger
We come to eat and we are satisfied
Oh living water, for you we are thirsty
Here in your presence we would for e’re abide

From all that Jesus is we will drink and feed
This is very thing thing that makes us whole
This is the source that meets our deepest needs
That satisfies the longings of the soul

Once  filthy and unclean
But now  to sin we have died
This is what believing means
We are forever satisfied
Forever satisfied, forever satisfied
We are forever satisfied!

In the presence and promise of Jesus we will trust
This unfailing  fountain overflows our needs
Then living water flows out from our  hearts of dust
It lasts forever and to heaven leads

Once  filthy and unclean
But now  to sin we have died
This is what believing means
We are forever satisfied
Forever satisfied, forever satisfied
We are forever satisfied!

Wait for the Lord

When you seem to reap a whirlwind
you never sowed to the wind
And the storm of doubt assails you
And foundations seem to bend
Remember God is FOR us
His faithfulness won't flinch
A bruised reed he will not break,
and a wick he will not quench.

The sun of righteousness shall rise
'Neath these healing wings we hide
Let his promises blow through each window
In each Heart that opens wide
He will lift up your humbled head
And fan your spark into a flame
The Spirit of Encouragement
On your heart shall lay its claim

Wait for the Lord; be strong, be strong,
take courage in your heart today
wait for the Lord! wait for the Lord!
And He will show the way.
Wait for the Lord; be strong, be strong,
take courage in your heart today
wait for the Lord! wait for the Lord!
And He will show the way.

Gods goodness and His mercy
shall follow all your days
We know not what were spared from
as we walk His narrow ways
As we walk a long obedience
we shall surely come to see
When the troubles and the trials come
the truth shall set us free

Wait for the Lord; be strong, be strong,
take courage in your heart today
wait for the Lord! wait for the Lord!
And He will show the way.
Wait for the Lord; be strong, be strong,
take courage in your heart today
wait for the Lord! wait for the Lord!
And He will show the way.
