Mystery of Mercy

According to your steadfast love
According to your abundant mercy
Blot out our transgressions
Lord declare us not guilty

The mystery of mercy
Confounds our finite minds
We don't deserve forgiveness
Yet God is loving-kind

We turn, helpless we turn
We turn, helpless we turn
His blood endures
Come to God's mercy seat
His blood secures
All the mercy we ever need

Some will be forgiven
For some guilt will remain
We cast ourselves upon your grace
We plead, erase our guilty stains

It pleases him to hear our cry
If over sin we weep and mourn
We long to have the blood applied
Through redemption to be reborn

We turn, helpless we turn
We turn, helpless we turn
His blood endures
Come to God's mercy seat
His blood secures
All the mercy we ever need

The mystery of mercy
Bewilders the blessed who receive
The blood atones for sin for me
Though I may ponder I believe.
