Beggarman

Dissolution

I have gone so much farther than I ought to have gone

Given my weak nature and my talent for wrong

God throws me again and again in to the deep

And I would surely have drowned if I was not in His keep

I am a beggar who has found a great feast

I was starving and cold like some wild feral beast

My heart had no home and my mind had no peace

But You seized me and showed me the way

So I want to tell others today.

Now I am forgiven, God calls me a saint

He has declared what I naturally ain’t

And what He ordains and declares to be true

Is the new reality that empowers what I should do.

I am not really as smart as men think

But here I sit at the table where I eat and I drink

I was needy and full of delusional pride

But I would not do well to hold this inside

Oh the goodness and grace the Lord provides

Now I am forgiven, God calls me a saint

He has declared what I naturally ain’t

And what He ordains and declares to be true

Is the new reality that empowers what I should do.

So I’m gonna do what He calls me to do
