He Lives!

God’s mercy, like a mighty stream,
O'er all our sins divinely rolls.
Who shall the Lord's elect condemn?
For God has justified their souls;

Who shall resist the father’s will?
For Christ that suffered in our stead;
His Great salvation to fulfil,
The Lord has risen from the dead!

He lives! He lives and reigns above, forever interceding there:
Who shall divide us from his love? Or what should tempt us to despair?

Shall persecution, or distress,
Shall famine, or sword, or nakedness?
More than conquerors Christ makes us.
He that has loved us ne’er forsakes us.

Faith has an overcoming power;
It triumphs in our dying hour:
His  work has paid redemption’s price
Our life, our joy, our hope is Christ!

He lives! He lives and reigns above, forever interceding there:
Who shall divide us from his love? Or what should tempt us to despair?

Rom. 8:33ff.
