Mirror of Mercy

Foolish hearts must be broken to break our chains

Broken  hearts can be healed when set fee

Broken chains fall away and the heart still remains

The wounding drives us to our knees

And though this sounds foolish  it remains true

For the folly of God intercedes

For all of our reasons we’ve rationalized

And the wisdom of this world  misleads

Chorus: In the mirror of mercy we shall clearly see

The way that God created our life to be

If we walk in the light we can learn to obey

The mirror of mercy shows us the way.

The worst thing you can do is to follow your heart

For our motives we cannot perceive

And what we desire most can tear us apart

If our heart has been deceived.

Our feelings are false and purveyors of lies

Feelings follow if facts take the lead

If on Truth we will focus we will become wise

For to reckon reality is our great need.

Bridge: We are not left here to wander  in doubt

God gives is His Word to help figure things out

A mirror of mercy God’s law to reveal

If will show us the truth not the things that we feel

For the merciful mirror makes the Truth dearer

For reality’s image it shows

In this merciful mirror, truth becomes clearer

Than ever before we could know

In the mirror of mercy we shall clearly see

The way that God created our life to be

If we walk in the light we can learn to obey
