There is a silence that echoes with emptiness
A silence that reveals and renders me a fraud
There is a silence that is pregnant with pain
But there’s no silence like the silence of God
In this dark night of the soul there is no choice
There is no other sound and no security
But to wait and wait upon the Saviors voice
Open my ears to hear, heal these eyes to see.
The world will try to take its toll
But God has his reasons and a Holy Goal
In the fellowship He brings
Partaking of Christ’s sufferings
In the dark night, the dark night of the soul.
Lord have you abandoned me?
I believe you have not forsaken me in my grief
But a tear drenched pillow is my reality
Lord I cry out -help my unbelief…
We are not crushed; but afflicted in every way,
We are perplexed, but not driven to despair;
Persecuted, but not forsaken or cast away
Struck down, but not laid waste beyond repair
The world will try to take its toll
But God has his reasons and a Holy Goal
In the fellowship He brings
Partaking of Christ’s sufferings
In the dark night, the dark night of the soul.
In the dark night, the dark night of the soul.
