God moves in a mysterious way His wonders to perform
His disciplines may come with pain or raging in a storm
We cry for mercy on our souls we weep and groan and pray
We are perplexed but still beguiled by Your mysterious way
How long will silence be your answer Lord of Providence?
How long will you hide your face till your discipline relents?
We wonder as we wander in these shadows dark and deep
We sit here in the ashes and soiled sackcloth as we weep
Our God moves in a Mysterious way-We cannot comprehend
His ways are far above our ways-We will not understand
The enigma and paradox-Lift us from the miry clay
We are confounded, come to us-In your mysterious way.
Our souls are in a quandary, our spirits faint and fail
We cling unto your promises and pray we will prevail
Have mercy on us Lord of hosts as we grope here in this haze
Rend the veils that we might apprehend your mysterious way
You are still redeemer, and you are forever good
We cast ourselves headlong on grace but still not understood
The why’s and the wherefores of your missing staff and rod
And so we cry for comfort in the mysteries of God
And God moves in a mysterious way-We cannot comprehend
His ways are far above our ways-We will not understand
The enigma and paradox-Lift us from the miry clay
We are confounded, come to us-In your mysterious way.
