Ransom

You must increase and I must decrease

Be exalted over all the earth

You must increase, may your praise never cease

You are treasure of infinite worth.

All that I have I would sell

To acquire the pearl of great price

But I know, I know this well

There’s no need for a further sacrifice

You have paid all that is required

To give us the thing that we have not desired

You bought our salvation, you purchased our peace

You gave your all to secure our release

You became sin so we are made right

To be one with our God and to walk in His light

So we come and drink freely for there is no cost

You are our redemption and our recompense

What was required was paid on your cross

You were the ransom and are now our defense.
