Victory Song

Lord you have fought the battle-
You have won the war

We reckon ourselves dead to sin-
For sin’s power is no more

Death itself has seen defeat-
And Satan now must flee

We must never sound retreat-
For Christ has the victory

This is our victory song

Christ in us has made us strong

We overcome ere long

His Word will not go wrong

So we sing this victory song.

We battle not with flesh and blood-
But with unearthly powers

We are the army of the Lord
and the victory is ours

So rise up before your Captain
now, reckon this reality

No foe can overcome us now,
Christ has the victory

This is our victory song

Temptations come to assail-
our hearts with sin’s desires

We know the Spirit never fails-
To provide what love requires

The obedience of faith attains
