Good, Good Friday

They could have stoned him or thrown him off of the temple roof

But to fulfill the prophecies and to reveal the truth

They hung him there upon a tree to show he was accursed

There He became a curse for us  in Sin he was immersed

And in His judgment then and there our judgment was reversed

When He became Sin for us, there our sin was crucified

So in the death of death we live  as in Him we abide.

He bore our sin to Calvary and with him it died there

And the penalty of all our sin’s not longer ours to bear.

Now we’re fully clothed in a robe of righteousness to wear.

This is the good good Friday when God’s plan was once fulfilled

To make a way and give us life was by our Father’s will

The son of God forsaken for our sake at Calvary

If he was not forsaken we are not forgiven and set free.

This is the good good Friday, It was finished on that tree.

And though that work was finished, for our sins He did atone

His dying breath breathes out our hope now  by it we are known

Beyond that grave the father’s satisfaction He would see

He conquered death and rose again to claim  the victory

Whoe’er believes this Savior receives life eternally

So let us come to know you, grant repentance to your sheep

For we have strayed and gone our way far from your holy keep

That’s why we need a Savior and what we need you will provide

When we receive the faith you draw us to and there we hide

Safe and secure in your own flock forever to abide!

This is the good good Friday when God’s plan was once fulfilled

To make a way and give us life was by our Father’s will

The son of God forsaken for our sake at Calvary

If he was not forsaken we are not forgiven and set free.

This is the good good Friday, It was finished on that tree.
