The Altar of Calvary

How many sins have you forgiven

How much anguish was required?

Why did the SON have to be given

So that we could be reconciled?

The sins of your people on you were laid

You bore them all alone

Complete atonement you have made

For those you call your own

So in your finished work we trust

It was accomplished on that tree

You were raised up there make us just

On the altar of Calvary

On the altar of Calvary

There the final sacrifice was made

Our substitute you did provide

There the propitiation was paid

When our sovereign Savior died

There the wrath of God was turned away

And poured out on Your SON

To put sin to death and make a way

You paid our ransom and it was done

Bridge

Then our God affirmed the sacrifice- allellujah!

Christ arose on the third day

Now the Father has exalted Christ-allelujah!

And given Him a name above all names

So in your finished work we trust

It was accomplished on that tree

You were raised up there to make us just

On the altar of Calvary

On the altar of Calvary
