We labored and languished in our pitiful plight
Unaware in that prison, that there was a light
Dwelling in darkness blind we would remain
A fantastic delusion kept us in our chains
We never knew it was God we defied
Eat, drinking, and merry we were satisfied
Not knowing the fires were burning in hell
What was that to us? To us all was well.
We were dead in trespasses and sin
Unable to change the state we were in
We needed a rescue from our prison graves
There was no deliverance--but Jesus saves!
So now of my Savior I will sing
My all on the altar- a living offering
No longer a prisoner of sin and the grave
I sing of my Jesus who is mighty to save
I sing of my Jesus who is mighty to save
He called out my name and new life began
He called me to live and I heard His command
I rose up and did what living people do-
We wake up and live out a life that’s made new
So now of my Savior I will sing
My all on the altar- a living offering
No longer a prisoner of sin and the grave
I sing of my Jesus who is mighty to save
I sing of my Jesus who is mighty to save
