Carousel of Faith

Here on the carousel of faith

We’re carried on toward our fate

Around and around and around we go

But where it stops only God knows

You take your ticket and you join the ride

On the back of  horses that have no stride

Here on this God-determined course

Moving and being under provident force

Lord I believe, help my unbelief

This ride may be rough but at least it is brief

The circus master knows when it all ends

And on his grace our future depends

Here on life’s mystery carousel

Riding the forces twixt heaven and hell

Sometimes we might even enjoy this ride

Round and around where’s there no cause for pride

We live and move as earthbound clowns

To be abased or to abound

Lord I believe, help my unbelief

This ride may be rough but at least it is brief

Our steeds navigate their circular path

A circle of fifths safe and sound from God’s wrath

Around and around and up and down

This rapturous ride is heaven bound

Sometimes we wonder how and where we are going

On the carousel you must go without knowing

For here on this ride that mystery’s solved

We’re dependent on grace as we revolve

Lord I believe, help my unbelief

This ride may be rough but at least it is brief

When the ride is over the we shall surely see

Our destination in eternity.
