Follow and Obey

We are strangers in a strange, strange land

And this is our trust each and every day

We have a Lord, who is in command

So we will follow and obey

We are pilgrims in a wilderness

And the Spirit must show us the way

If we would walk in blessedness

Then we must follow and obey

In this weary world where the road is long

Through life’s dangers, we must learn to pray

If we would walk right, we will not go wrong

So we must follow and obey

If we follow, we will persevere

But we know our shepherd is our guide

Though the destination be unclear

Through faith’s obedience, we will abide!

Now our very life is a trust and a test

For it’s what we do, not just what we say

If we’d shed our burden and in him rest

Then we must follow and obey

With the Spirit, we must keep in step

Or we will wander and go astray

Then we will abide and we will be kept
