Sand Seminary

There among shifting dunes and the perilous rocks

Old Moses learned to subsist and tend to smelly flocks

And here in this place made of a pure paradox

He found a place he could stand

There in the seminary made of sand

For his own good Moe was placed on the shelf

There he learned to tend sheep, and he put to death self

He gave up positions and gave up his wealth

And when all that was familiar was banned

Was transformed by that seminary made out of sand

Like Moses, we sojourn in our own wilderness

And the cursed obstacles, we learn how to bless

This way is not easy. It’s hard, we confess.

For we’re not trained to meet its demands

We’re redeemed in that seminary made out of sand

Bridge

You saw me and bought me and brought me to this

And taught me the lessons couldn’t dare miss

Here in this desert wilderness’ backside,

Will bring death to ego and decimate pride

And you yield when ambition has died

The backside of the desert is a sanctified school

It signals the wise, and it upbraids the fool

Where lonely’s the status and danger the rule

It’s a dry and a wild weary land

There in the seminary of the sand

The best of all lessons surely are learned

Beyond circumstances for which you’ve yearned

They may come from sources you formerly spurned

It’s not what you hoped and it’s not what you planned

Here in this seminary made of sand

Life’s lessons are learned in the most obscure places

When you take that right turn and those about faces

When you feel you’ve been burned, but it’s really God’s graces

You can sense the invisible hand

When you’re in that seminary made of sand

Forever In Glory

I was wandering in the shadows,

Lost but still You saw me there

Your gentle whisper called my name,

Lifted me from my despair

I see the gates are open wide,

Your mercy writes my story

And now my soul can finally rest,

forever in Your glory

Chorus

In glory, I will stand before Your throne

Every tear is gone, my heart is finally home

In glory, love has won the victory

Jesus, all I am belongs to Thee

The crown of life You place upon me,

Not for what my hands have done

But for the blood that speaks my freedom,

By the power of the Son

All the angels sing Hosanna,

The heavens tell Your story

I lift my hands and join the song,

Forever in Your glory

Repeat Chorus

Bridge

No more night, no more fear

I see the light of heaven here

Your presence is my only song

I’ll worship You forever long

Repeat Chorus

Forever in Your glory…

Forever I will be…

Jesus, all I am belongs to Thee

Take It Captive (My Mind is Stayed on You)

The room is quiet but the noise is loud

A midnight theater with a phantom crowd

The lies are whispering, they tell me who I am

They paint a picture where I’m failing again

They say the shadow is too deep to climb

But there’s a promise running through my mind

Chorus

I take it captive, every single thought

I point to the victory that Jesus bought

When the waves of doubt begin to rise

I break the spell of the enemy’s lies

My mind is a battlefield, the war is real

But I will trust what You say over what I feel

Yeah, the fortress is falling, the armor is on

The battle belongs to the Lord- this is my song

Anxious thoughts are running like a flood

Telling me Christ’s strength is not enough

But I’ve got weapons that they cannot see

A shield of faith and a King that intercedes

Now clarity prevails o’er doubt-I find

Your Spirit grants to me a sure, sound mind

Bridge

You are the peace in the panic

You are the truth in the dark

You hold the reins of my future

You hold the keys to my heart

So get behind me, confusion

Get out of here, every fear

The Spirit of power is moving

The Victorious One is right here

Repeat chorus

The battle belongs to the Lord

Perfect peace in the middle of the night

You're winning the fight

My mind is stayed on You

Yeah, my mind is stayed on You

Battleground: Me

In the quiet of the morning

Before the day begins

The whispers start their climbing

Where the doubt and fear creep in

An idle mind a canvas

For the shadows to portray

But I know the voice of the Shepherd

And I know I must obey

Chorus

I take every thought captive

To the obedience of Christ

I’m tearing down the strongholds

Trading panic for His light

When the lies come loud and heavy

And the battle rages deep

I am standing on His promise

The victory is mine to keep

It’s a war inside the silence

A fight for what is true

I cast down every speculation

Let the Spirit make me new

When the enemy reminds me

Of the places I have been

I remember who I am in Him

And I see the Savior win

Bridge

Renew my mind, Lord, transform my heart

Set your truth in the hidden parts

No weapon formed will make me fall

I hold Your shield against it all

Yeah, I hold Your shield against it all!

Repeat chorus

Peace that surpasses all my understanding

Guard my heart, my mind commanding

In Your name, my thoughts will bow

In Your name, I take them captive now

Battle of the Mind

Thoughts are racing in the dark,

Arrows finding every mark.

Doubts arise and heavy fears,

Cloud my eyes and bring the tears.

Every lie a fortress tall,

Begging me to doubt and fall.

Chorus

Lord, I take every thought captive now,

At Your name, the lies must bow!

Raze the walls inside my head,

Replace the fear with life instead

Transform my mind, renew my heart,

Speak Your truth and set me apart.

Logic says I'm on my own,

Weak and broken, overthrown.

Pride is whispering for control,

Worry gripping at my soul.

Hold me steady, calm the storm,

Let Your peace my mind transform.

Bridge

No more listening to the noise,

I will listen to Your voice!

Shield of faith and sword of grace,

Flee the enemy and his space.

By the blood and by the word,

Every wicked lie is heard

And cast away!

Mind renewed, in You I stand, today

Safe within Your healing hand, I pray

Then You Rejoice

Another mountain rises, blocking out the sun

The race is never-ending, and the battles just begun

You’re running on empty, your feet are made of stone

And in the quiet shadows, you feel you're all alone

The bills are stacking higher, the promises are frail

It feels like every effort is destined just to fail

Chorus

But life is hard, oh, it's hard, but then you rejoice

You find a little courage and you lift up your voice

Gratitude is such a fateful choice

The storm will lose its fury, the heavy clouds will part

Joy is coming quietly to heal a weary heart

Yeah, life is hard, but then you rejoice

The promises are broken, the plans have fallen through

You trusted in the journey, but it turned its back on you

It’s heavy on your spirit, it’s heavy on your mind

Leaving all the pieces of your shattered dreams behind

But listen to the rhythm of the rising of the tide

There’s beauty in the breaking that you cannot hide

Repeat Chorus

Bridge

The winter only stays until the spring decides to bloom

You couldn’t see the morning if you didn’t know the gloom

So let the tears fall freely, let the old ache pass away

You’re stronger than the sorrow, and you’ll make it to the day

Where the sun is shining brightly, and the sorrow is outgrown

Look at how you made it, look at how you've grown

Repeat Chorus

Glorious Story

I held the pen too tight,

I tried to write each line.

I fought through darkest night,

To make my story mine

The pages stained with tears,

The plot began to break,

Choked out by heavy fears,

Of every choice I'd make.

Chorus

So I hand You back the book,

Each new chapter was the same

With one compassionate look

You call me by my name

Rewrite it from the start

And heal my wandering heart.

Write every word and page

From the beginning to the end

I step off of the stage,

And trust You as my Friend.

You are the living Word,

The Author and the Guide.

My silent cries are heard

Right here by Your sweet side.

You take the jagged lines

And make them whole and new.

In all Your grand designs,

My life points straight to you
