Kept

All that I have I have received

Even the faith to believe

The hope by which I set my sights

Comes down from the Father of lights.

I have no boast, I have no claim

On any power to meet my aim

But what’s required God will provide

Till Christ will draw me to His side

What do I have that I was not given?

What gift of Grace that’s not from heaven?

I’m not my own- I am blood bought

And my keeper knows my every thought.

And every time I take a breath

I am preserved from very death.

All that I see,  all that I am

Is subject to my Keeper’s plan

Chorus

You never slumber you never sleep

My going out and coming in You keep

I am held fast forever, I’ll not be afraid

You are my keeper you are my shade

Both in my first and second birth

I did not contribute stuff of worth

Nothing within me caused God’s choice

This I will reckon- and rejoice!

Now deep is calling unto deep

For my sin-sick soul Jesus shall keep.

My pondering must surely cease

As I instead fall on my knees

Yes I’ll bow down and I’ll accept

That all my life I have been kept

God will preserve me through this life

Through every danger toil and strife

All I’m spared from I cannot know.

As I sojourn this world below.

My deliverer shall vouchsafe me

Thru death into eternity.

Repeat Chorus twice
