Bend the Knee (Proskenein)

Surrender to the Righteous One

See your integrity undone

Though bound by self you can be free

But only if you bend the knee.

Before the worthy one bow down

Take up your cross; give Him the crown

Then you shall have the victory

But only when you bend the knee.

Till every knee shall bow And every tongue confess

This world will never know The fruit of righteousness

One day before His throne When prostrate we shall see

We’ll know as we are known ‘Neath Christ’s authority

Give up your weak and poor desires

Embrace the things that Christ requires

Justice, mercy, humility

Are ours if we but bend the knee.

Now set your mind on things above

And bow before His perfect love

The heights of heaven you may see

But only if you bend the knee

Perceive the true reality

With lifted eyes from bended knee

Then you shall have the victory

But only when you bend the knee.
