We
shall sing of the excellence of his glory,
Of
a glory mingled with humility.
We
will laud his uncompromising justice,
Justice
that is tempered with mercy.
We
must sing of his absolute transcendence,
Mingled
with his condescending love
We take courage in his incarnate immanence
And
His ever present presence from above
Clothed
in a spirit of submission.
In
obedience and willingness He came
We
sing of sovereign dominion
Over
the world he rules and reigns
In
all His attributes our Lord is excellent
We
sing the excellencies of His great name!
We
sing the excellencies of His great name!
We
admire how worthy he is of all good,
While
suffering all evil at men’s hand
We
admire the majesty of Christ Jesus
This
majesty in meekness — For He is lion and lamb.
We
admire how he could still the storm with a word,
yet
he refused to come down from the cross.
Despised
the shame for the joy set before Him
And
in His poverty He paid our ransoms cost
Clothed
in a spirit of submission.
In
obedience and willingness He came
We
sing of sovereign dominion
Over
the world he rules and reigns
In
all His attributes our Lord is excellent
We
sing the excellencies of His great name!
We
sing the excellencies of His great name!
