They say you were a morningstar
But Shining mixed with envy’s desire
To exalt your fame you went to war
And became a monster and a liar
You were deceived by your own pride
You thought to capture heavens throne
Your jealousy you would not hide
So you were cast like lightning down
Myriads of hosts you seduced
To follow on the rebels’ way
The enmity that you produced
Was the ultimate audacity
Anointed cherub you were given
As Guardian of God’s glorious throne
But you coveted the rule of heaven
You desired the worship for your own
And now you are a roaring lion
Seeking who you may devour
Ruler of this world and sin’s scion
The fear of death your only power
So contemplate what you have lost
For you have practiced to deceive
Agree to what your pride has cost
Now eternally you’ll surely grieve
