Let Every Tear Be Dry

Lord at your Word we break the bread,
And pour the flowing wine!
How are your glories here displayed!
Great God, how bright they shine,
Here your avenging justice stands,
And pleads its dreadful cause;
Here saving mercy spreads her hands,
Like Jesus on the cross.

Dear Savior, change our faith to sight;
Let sin for ever die;
Then shall our souls be all delight,
And every tear be dry.
And every tear be dry.
Then shall our souls be all delight,
And every tear be dry.

Our hope in hearts of flesh now beats,
Heav'n rejoices at the sight;
Here at the blessed mercy seat
Those hearts of flesh unite.
Holy fear and love perform their part
And rising sin destroy;
Repentance comes with aching heart,
Yet n'er forbids the joy.

Dear Savior, change our faith to sight;
Let sin forever die;
Then shall our souls be all delight,
And every tear be dry.
And every tear be dry.
Then shall our souls be all delight,
And every tear be dry.
