In
vain we seek for peace with God by
methods of our own:
Jesus,
there's nothing but your
blood can
bring us near the throne.
You
have
redeemed our souls with blood, and broke the prisoners
chains;
You
made us kings and priests to God, and with you we shall reign.
Justice
upon a dreadful throne
Maintains
the rights of God;
While
Mercy sends her pardons down, bought
with a Savior's blood.
Our
souls he washes in his blood,
and cleanses every stain;
The Spirit from our God
Descends
like purifying rain.
Chorus:
So
now Immortal
glory
to
God the Son belongs
Bought
by Blood shall
ever be our
neverending
song
Lord,
cleanse our
souls
from every sin by
our
Redeemer's blood;
Now
let our
flesh and soul commend the
honors of our
God!
He
bought
our lives with blood.
This is why God's
Son came down
Now his own blood hides all our sins, and
guilt no more is found.
Blest
be the Lamb, my dearest Lord,
Who
bought me with his blood,
And
quenched his Father's flaming sword
In
his own vital flood.
It
cost him death to
buy our souls and
for sins to atone,
And
all the joys he gives were
bought with agonies unknown.
The
great compassion
of our God like a mighty river rolls;
Here
peace and pardon bought with blood
Is
food for dying souls.
Chorus:
So
now Immortal
glory
to
God the Son belongs
Bought
by Blood shall
ever be our
neverending
song
Lord,
cleanse our
souls
from every sin by
our
Redeemer's blood;
Now
let our
flesh and soul commend the
honors of our
God!
