For the Joy

Verse 1

Like a lamb to the slaughter you were led

A crown of thorns placed upon your head

No iniquity in you was found

Were set free by the love by which you were bound

Verse 2

You were rejected and you were despised

At the obscene sight of you men turnd their eyes

Such was the punishment you chose to own

To die there on a cross for Sin to atone

By your wounds our salvation was sealed

By your blood, our brokenness was  healed

Chorus

For the joy set before you The cross You endured

You scorned the shame And salvation secured

you were High and lifted up

You drank the bitter cup

The day you took my place

Then You sat down at the holy place

The right hand  of the throne of grace

Verse 3

You were forsaken and I was forgiven

God turned his face and your soul was riven

As you bore the shame

Jesus when you became Sin for us

By your wounds our salvation was sealed

By your blood our brokenness was healed

Chorus

For the joy set before you The cross You endured

You scorned the shame And salvation secured

you were High and lifted up

You drank the bitter cup

The day you took my place

Then You sat down at the holy place

The right hand  of the throne of grace

You sat down at the holy place

The right hand  of the throne of grace
