The Glory of the Cross
A crown of thorns and not of gold-Is placed upon his brow
Now cast your eyes and behold-The Lord of glory now
See the stark humility-Of the Son crucified
The worthy lamb in purity-soon raised though he has died
For if he is lifted up high -To his cross he will draw
Sinful men who’ll come nigh-To stand in fear and awe
In humble repentance- we will joyfully rejoice
In our hope and sure defense, we will lift our voice
This is the power that transforms hearts-The glory of the cross
There from sin to be set apart-When we realize sin’s cost
Behold him high and lifted up-Behold the one that drank our cup
To become the final sacrifice-I will love the glory of my Christ
Where humbling conviction-And forgiveness are both found
The depth of sin’s affliction-From its love we are unbound
So lift up Christ before your eyes-there keep them ever stayed
Behold now the glorious sight-Of righteousness displayed
My soul is steadfast and secure-I am grateful for God’s Grace
So I will continue to endure-Until I see Christ’s face
But now in this place and time-I will glory in My Christ
In my heart soul and mind-I will praise His sacrifice
This is the power that transforms hearts-The glory of the cross
There from sin to be set apart-When we realize sin’s cost
Behold him high and lifted up-Behold the one that drank our cup
To become the final sacrifice-I will love the glory of my Christ
