Whirlwind

When there is fear that our faith  may falter

And we cannot find A place to stand

When our sacrifice crawls off the altar

Darkness threatens to cover the land

Will we go out and stand on the mountain

In the presence of the Lord of all?

Or will we hide away in the darkness?

Or will we heed the clarion call?

Though a powerful wind rends the mountains

And shatters the rocks into dust

You are not in the wind or the earthquake

Or the raging of the fire of the just

Touch our hearts with your word

This is our holy desire

Touch our hearts with your word

Whether by the whirlwind or the fire

If by lightning or thunder

You tear the veil asunder

Or if a still small voice is required

Touch our hearts with your word, take us higher

A gentle whisper is the only sound

A sound of sheer silence is heard

Your voice, Lord, inhabits the silence

And speaks a comforting consoling word

Touch our hearts with your word

This is our holy desire

Touch our hearts with your word

Whether by the whirlwind or the fire

If by lightning or thunder

You tear the veil asunder

Or if a still small voice is required

Touch our hearts with your word, take us higher

Touch our hearts this is our one desire
