Love so amazing, so divine, demands my soul, my life, my all. —Isaac Watts
After writing over 2100 psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs in my lifetime, I have decided to try revisiting some of the great hymnwriters whose songs I sang in my youth, and work from them as inspiration for a project I have begun as summer approaches. I am presently working through a massive body of work by Isaac Watts, the great hymnwriter and poet of the early eighteenth century known as the “Godfather of English Hymnody”. You can watch my progress here if you want…
I fully acknowledge inclusion of thoughts, phrases and even stanzas of Watts included in these derivations. Along the way I will continue to post my own original works as well while composing new melodies to these as well.
