We raised up an army and we served it well
Formed in the bellicose bowels of Hell
Raised up against every holy thing
Traitors at war with our creator and King
A chaotic fantasy had kept us blind
Bound by the chains we had formed in our mind
Shaking our fists at God’s authority
Believing a lie while thinking we’re free
Prince of Peace you satisfied
The wages of sin I was owed
Holy wrath was meant for me
Because of the seeds I sowed
A prisoner of war and a sworn enemy
You secured my ransom and set me free
Yes You have effected my release
For you are the Prince of Peace.
You took our sin and you took on our shame
And you bore all the cost and bore all the blame
You offered Yourself as a true sacrifice
To atone for our sin, this alone would suffice
You made peace with One against whom I rebelled
My hatred you quenched and my fires you quelled
Not only forgiven, Now I am reconciled
Bought with a price I am now called God’s child.
Prince of Peace you satisfied
The wages of sin I was owed
Holy wrath was meant for me
Because of the seeds I sowed
A prisoner of war and a sworn enemy
You secured my ransom and set me free
Yes You have effected my release
For you are the Prince of Peace.
