Mercy

There’s a mercy in dependence

And in the dark night of despair

For God‘s kindness yields repentance

When to draw near him we dare

For when we’re going without knowing

He goes with us all the way

Into Christ likeness, we are growing

As illusions fade away

Chorus:There is mercy in the wilderness

There is mercy in the pain

In the present sense of wrongness

There is still so much to gain

There is mercy in the waiting

And the seasons of suffering

For on the altar of the wilderness

We become the offering

Now the loss that doesn’t seem to heal

And the ache of loneliness

When the deep deception is revealed

And you fail the integral test

My God has not abandoned me

Here on this battlefield

Christ said the truth shall set me free

So to his Wisdom I will yield

Bridge: What has drawn your heart nearer

To his all sustaining Grace?

And what has made him dearer

So to fall in his embrace?

For in my Jesus I abide

And within me, he will dwell

In this wasteland I shall hide

Within the Rock and it is well.

There is mercy in the wilderness

There is mercy in the pain

In the present sense of wrongness

There is still so much to gain

There is mercy in the waiting

And the seasons of suffering

For on the altar of the wilderness

We become the offering
