The Earth is His Footstool

God wraps Himself in morning light, the thunder is His voice

Yet He steps down to the valley floor to make the sad rejoice

The highest heavens cannot hold the glory of His face

Yet He makes the soil of this sad world the meeting place of grace

The kings of earth demand a crown, a high and lofty seat

But the Master of the universe puts the cosmos at His feet

(Chorus)

The earth is His footstool, the heavens are His throne

The oceans are a drop of rain that belongs to Him alone

How can we build a house for the Lord of space and time?

When the valley is His footprint and the stars are His design

We bow down low where His presence touches ground

On the footstool of the King, where holy grace is found

The heavens are His throne, and His footstool is the Earth

A place where even His enemies come to know His worth

He looks upon the broken heart, the humble and the meek

The footstool is the very place the Savior came to seek

He walked upon the dusty roads, He slept upon the land

The King of Kings became a man to hold us in His hand

Bridge

Here at the feet of Jesus is the safest place we know

All praise and fear and glory- all to Him we owe

If we do not honor Him, we all shall be cast down

Yea, we bow before His footstool, for here is holy ground

The earth is His footstool, the heavens are His throne

The oceans are a drop of rain that belongs to Him alone

How can we build a house for the Lord of space and time?

When the valley is His footprint and the stars are His design

We bow down low where His presence touches ground

On the footstool of the King, where holy grace is found
