We once were called the land of promise
We once were known for freedom’s ring
We once could say In God We Trust
Prosperity is what justice and mercy brings
We once would declare out of many one
But now we fragment into tribes
We once would join together for a cause
But now we contend and divide
This is my lamentation for my nation
This is my heartcry for this generation
My soul shall yearn, yes yearn for the return
Of my people to the ways of the Lord
If united we stand, then divided we will fall
A house divided against itself won’t stand
What we are building are separating walls
And tribulation fills our land
Are these the sure signs of God’s judgment?
Do we perceive destructions’s eve?
When sin becomes the judgment on itself
It is a time to mourn and grieve.

If they would humble themselves and pray
That you would hear their cries from heaven
As they seek your face and turn from their wicked way
Oh Lord grant us repentance as your gift
Oh Lord teach us your ways to learn
May your people be transformed by this
Oh Lord heal our land as we return
